A hilarious physics game that will leave you tongue-tied

Speech is an ability most people often take for granted. It comes to most of us so naturally and yet, it’s probably our most valuable ability. Speaking Simulator is a physics and simulation game that’s all about simulating speech. The game was developed by Affable Games and it will definitely make you appreciate this uniquely human skill.

Funny Premise

The Speaking Simulator’s greatest attribute is its absurdity, and this absurdity can be seen from its hilarious premise all the way to its character and set design. In the game, you will be controlling a humanoid android whose purpose is to learn the ways of humans in order to blend in. Amusingly, this android isn’t here to make friends with us. It’s here to conquer and dominate us, but the player has a lot of work to do before this android can be a dictator.

Controls and Gameplay

Speaking comes easy to people, but it’s actually a pretty complicated process. In the Speaking Simulator, players must manipulate the mouth in order to produce the correct sound. They will be able to open and close the mouth and control the tongue and the jaw in order to simulate speech. However, being able to produce the correct sound isn’t enough for the android to succeed in its quest for world domination. The player must make sure that the android’s difficulties aren’t detected during game events. Mistakes while speaking will cause the android to malfunction and breakdown, blowing its cover and destroying its chances for conquest.

Unfortunately for players, speaking fluently in this game is no easy ordeal. If it’s anything like QWOP, as the developers suggested, controls will no doubt be very difficult. That said, for most people, the intense difficulty is part of the appeal. The wide array of simulator games like Surgeon Simulator is proof that games like these definitely have a market.

Uncanny Graphics

One major thing to mention about the game is its bizarre graphics. The absurdist concept and humor of the game suggest that this might be intentional. It highlights the fact that the main character of the game isn’t human. However, some players might be turned off by the design choices since it does look incredibly weird. Quite frankly, it looks unpolished. It remains to be seen whether this will be improved upon release.

Weird and Funny

Fans of QWOP and the Surgeon Simulator games will likely find this game familiar. It operates on the same mechanics, with the same level of frustrating difficulty most likely. The uncanny valley might be a turn-off for most people, but it fits in well with the absurdist humor of the original. Speaking Simulator is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2019.
